36" x 48" KRP-150FR Fire Rated Access Door for Walls and Ceilings - Karp
Open wall and ceiling spaces can allow fire and heat to spread quickly, increasing damage and making it harder to manage. Without a fire-rated access door, these openings can weaken under extreme conditions.
The 36" x 48" Fire-Rated Access Door – KRP-150FR is built to slow down fire and heat for up to 1.5 hours on walls and 3 hours on ceiling, helping to maintain the strength of fire-rated barriers.
Its self-latching mechanism keeps the door securely closed, while 2-inch-thick fire-rated insulation reduces heat transfer, improving performance in high-temperature conditions.
Why Choose the 36" x 48" KRP-150FR?
- Helps Meet Fire Code Requirements: The KRP-150FR is ideal for commercial projects that require a reliable fire-rated access point in walls and ceilings.
- Built to Last: Constructed with 16-gauge steel and a welded pan-type door, offering lasting performance in demanding environments.
- Secure Closure: Its self-latching mechanism ensures the door stays shut when needed.
- Reduces Heat Transfer: With its insulated core, this access door helps maintain interior temperatures.
- Easy Installation: Thanks to its flush-mounted design with pre-drilled mounting holes, the KPR-150FR is easy to set up.

Installation Instructions
- Prepare the Opening: Mark and cut a 36 3/8" x 48 3/8" rough opening in the wall or ceiling. Ensure the framing is properly reinforced to support the door’s weight and fire-rated integrity. If installing in masonry, have the included masonry straps ready.
- Position the Access Door: Place the KRP-150FR into the opening, ensuring the frame sits flush with the surface. Use the pre-drilled mounting holes to align the door properly. For ceiling installations, double-check that the door’s weight is fully supported.
- Secure the Frame: Fasten the door frame using fire-rated screws, ensuring a tight and stable fit. For masonry applications, attach the included straps securely to the structure. Verify that the door remains level and opens smoothly before fully tightening the screws.
- Final Adjustments and Finish: Check that the door self-latches and the keyed paddle latch functions properly. If necessary, make minor adjustments to ensure smooth operation. Once secure, apply a fire-rated sealant around the frame if the code requires it, and then finish the surrounding wall or ceiling as needed.
